WWE Wrestler and Murderer!
June 27th 2007 04:02
On Monday morning, the bodies of WWE Wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found in their family home, apparently murdered. That night on 'Monday Night Raw' the WWE held a tribute to the wrestler, known as The Canadian Crippler.
Since then, the bizarre story of the Benoit family's deaths have come to light (and the WWE want nothing more to do with Chris Benoit).
It turned out that in fact, Chris Benoit killed his wife and son, before killing himself. The killings were spread out over a weekend. Benoit killed his wife on Friday in an upstairs room. Nancy was found with her hands and feet bound. Benoits 7 yr old son, Daniel was killed late Saturday or early Sunday morning in his own bed. Several hours later (or as long as a day later), Benoit then hanged himself in his downstairs weights room.
Benoit's wife, Nancy, had filed for divorce from the wrestler in 2003, alleging Benoit treated her cruelly. She had also sought a restraining order on Benoit after he allegedly threatened her and broke furniture in the house. However, she later dropped both complaints.
The police have not been able to establish a motive for the murder suicide, however they investigators found anabolic steroids in the house, theorising that the steroids may have suffered from a condition known as 'roid' rage - paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts as a result of the use of steroids.
The authorities were first alerted by the WWE after friends advised of some curious text messages sent by Benoit early on Sunday. Details of the text messages have been released. The messages, sent by Benoit from both his and his wife's cell phone alerted the reader of where to find the remains of his family and the location of his guard dogs:
find his remains, and the enclosed location of his attack dogs.
Below are the times and content of text messages Benoit sent to co-workers, as first reported by WWE:
3:53 AM - Chris Benoit's cell phone: "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayeteville Georgia. 30215"
3:53 AM - Chris Benoit's cell phone: "The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open."
3:54 AM - Nancy Benoit's cell phone: "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayeteville Georgia. 30215"
3:55 AM - Nancy Benoit's cell phone: "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayeteville Georgia. 30215"
5:58 AM - Nancy Benoit's cell phone: "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayeteville Georgia. 30215"
A truly bizarre and very very sad situation.
Update
It looks as though 'roid' rage isn't being blamed for this situation, the WWE has come out and said that 'roid rage wasn't a factor in the mutliple homicide/suicide, stating that:

Update
It looks as though 'roid' rage isn't being blamed for this situation, the WWE has come out and said that 'roid rage wasn't a factor in the mutliple homicide/suicide, stating that:
1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.
2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.
3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.
4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.

I worked for 7 years at a battered women and children's shelter. I heard stories like these everyday and worked with women and their children that lived through attempted murder plots and cruel marriages. This is such a sad story whether the victims are famous or not.

You're right. I guess it's really highlighted when it's a famous person, but I can imagine it's not a unique scenario.
Such a sad story!
