Tom Cruise Hits Back
November 2nd 2006 22:45
After being dropped by Paramount Studios in August, Tom has hit back with an announcement that he has signed on with MGM Studios to resurrect the United Artists movie studio.
Under the agreement, Tom will star in and produce films for the studio.
Cruise, and longtime partner Paula Wagner will set the production agenda for the studio and be able to develop projects (within agreed parameters).
You know what they say Tom, actions speak louder than words. Produce some good films and the public will be happy to overlook your quirkyness once again.

And yes, you are cheeky. But that's okay, I'll let you get away with it.

I don't really care about his life outside of the screen. He's done some tops work.
'Collateral'
'Interview with a Vampire'
'Born on the 4th of July'
'Magnolia'
'The Last Samurai'
'Vanilla Sky'
are all movies I enjoyed immensely.
even 'War of the Worlds' and 'Jerry Maguire' were pretty decent.

Sure Tom Cruise may a bit of an oddity, but he is EASILY the most bankable actor today.
Tom could be put in a movie that would generally flop, yet turn it into a blockbuster.
This lad doesn't just get payed mega dollars because he demands it, he gets it because he makes it back and more for the movie company. Paramount are retards

compare that to 'mi3' which took number one spot only because of hype, dropped all over the world in standings the very next week.

Johnny depp has some flexibility, he can play varied roles as a crazy (ridicilously entertaining) pirate all the way down to a paranoid writer and win oscars for both.

As much as I love Johnny Depp and don't necessarily like Tom Cruise, I have to say that when it comes to money spinning, Tom has Johnny beat. Up until Pirates, Johnny always did the lower budget quirky flicks. Tom did those big blockbusters that bought in hundreds of millions of dollars. Johnny was the better actor, but Tom bought in the crowds (the one exception was Magnolia. I hated hated hated that movie, but damn did Tom Cruise prove he could act or what???).
I definitely think the tide is turning towards Johnny now that he's embraced the blockbuster though.

I think the fact that Johnny has always done those quirky films is part of his appeal.

He was perfectly cast in 'Catch Me If You Can' and he's pretty much one of the best things in 'The Departed'.
Aviator was good work too
