Steve Irwin Quotes

September 5th 2006 02:34
While there is much sadness surrounding the tragic death of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin yesterday, it is perhaps a good time to remember some of the reasons why everyone loved him so much.

Below are some of my favourite Steve Irwin quotes. These quotes were gathered from the Brainy Quotes (www.brainyquote.com) and Enough Rope (http://www.abc.net.au/tv/enoughrope) websites.

1. Crikey, mate. You're far safer dealing with crocodiles and western diamondback rattlesnakes than the executives and the producers and all those sharks in the big MGM building.

2. The only animals I'm not comfortable with are parrots, but I'm learning as I go. I'm getting better and better at 'em. I really am. (who doesn't love a man who is comfortable around snakes and crocodiles, but is scared of parrots?).

3. And this is one of my all-time favourites. It's a quote taken from one of Steve's documentaries when he confronts Komodo dragons and they attack him! - "Their teeth are like razors. One bite, one laceration, and I'd bleed out and be dead in an instant. The smell would send other dragons into a frenzy and they'd come from everywhere. (To camera) Holy smokes! That was too close. Let's follow them. "

4. Lastly, here's a good one that show's Steve's level of self-deprecation about himself (a good quality if you ask me). He is asked by TV presenter Andrew Denton if he can understand why some Australian's are embarassed by Steve Irwin - "Absolutely. I'm very embarrassing to look at. You know why? Here's why I'm embarrassing. Because there's a little bit of me in everybody."

These quotes are great. It's nice to stop for a moment and remember the man himself and his contagious passion. It put a smile on my face at a very sad time. Well done.
