rehab seems to be the big celebrity craze at the moment!
Keith Urban has checked himself into rehab last Thursday. Urban has previously struggled with alcohol and cocaine addiction.
Mel Gibson checked himself into rehab after his drunken arrest a month or so ago.
Some of the other stars who have checked themselves into rehab include:
- Brother & sister, Kelly and Jack Osborne
- Ben Affleck
- Kate Moss
- Pete Doherty (and god knows we all know he needs it more than most)
- Nicole Ritchie - I hadn't realised until a couple of months ago that she was a
heroin addict for a while
- Brandon Davis - oil heir who hangs with Paris and the like
- Matthew Perry - quite a few times actually
- Robin Williams
- Most rock band members!
While I'm all for stars getting help for their addictions, there's a cynical part of me that wonders why the majority of them only ever check themselves into rehab once there's media surrounding their bad behaviour. As though now that they've admitted they have a problem, we have to forgive them anything that they have done. Because it wasn't their fault.
And for some of our celeb's, that's true. Addictions shouldn't just be dismissed lightly.
But me thinks that there is more than one celebrity who checks themself into rehab just to generate media publicity.
But with the number of addicts emerging in Hollywood, it has to make you think.......maybe stardom ain't all it's cracked up to be.
