Paris Hilton Out of Jail Already
June 8th 2007 02:07
Yes folks, you heard right. Our favourite incarcerated heiress is no longer in prison!!
Early on Thursday morning, the LA County Sheriff's Department let Paris Hilton out of jail and sent her home to serve 40 days of House Detention. Paris's original sentence was for 45 days (or 23 if she behaved herself). Because she's serving her time at home, she's no longer entitled to the shorter sentence and has to complete the full 45 days (she's done 5 in jail). Hilton will have to wear an electronic bracelet on her ankle and is not permitted to leave the house. According to the spokesman for the Sheriff's Department, medical conditions played a part in their decision to release the heiress.
TMZ are reporting that the 'medical condition' was Paris' mental state. The decision to release her was made after a psychiatrist visited Paris on Tuesday and Wednesday and decided that her mental state was fragile and that she was in danger of having a nervous breakdown.
Paris released the following statement via her lawyer "I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes."
Not everyone is happy with the decision to release Paris. The prosecutor, Rocky Delgadillo, in her case is less than pleased at the turn of events. He has filed a motion asking the judge who sentenced Paris to jail to find the Sheriff's Department in contempt of court for allowing Paris to leave the prison before she was fitted with her security ankle bracelet (ooops!). In the motion, Rocky is asking that Paris be sent back to jail to serve the rest of her sentence.
The hearing is set for 9am Friday (LA time) and Paris has been ordered to attend proceedings.
We'll see tomorrow if Judge Michael Sauer send Paris back to the slammer!!!!
If you want my opinion (and I know you're on the edge of the seats waiting for it), I say, let her serve the rest of her sentence at home. She did some jail time, she learned her lesson. If she wasn't Paris Hilton, she never would have gotten jail time anyway (of course if she wasn't Paris Hilton she might not have driven when her licence was suspended like the dumbass she is). So make her stay at home. We all knew the real punishment to Paris was the absence of photographers. She'll still get that at home. Besides, I'm sick of hearing about it already!!!
And hey, if she's not in jail surely she won't subject us all to the release of her prison diaries!!!

DEBATABLE CONVERSATIONS...
No, I say put her back in jail....it's not going to be sending a good message to other's out there, esp. the celebs who will be now thinking they too can drive with a suspended licence - which I'm sure they do anyway - but this gives them a big green light to do so without the fear of going to jail......for very long.
Send her back!! Prison diaries...ha!
"Today I woke up...ummmmm.........what comes next? Oh, I pushed my sunglasses up my nose and then...ummm...oh damn, where is my pooch.......?"

I know. From what I've heard about prison, it's not supposed to be pleasant. And people really don't like it there. But if you're a celeb, you get sent home for that. I'm willing to bet that a few of the inmates are suddenly feeling very fragile over the next few weeks!!!
Kerryn,
I can see your point. But I think the point has been made. Originally nobody thought she'd get a prison sentence. Then assumed it would be overturned on appeal. I never thought she'd see the inside of a jail. So even if it's only for 5 days, I think that it sends a message.
But please save me from her prison diaries. I'm sure it would be totally mindless drivel that will make me want to stab out my eyeballs with a fork!

For the Sake of Argument
My Apologetics
After 3 days with Paris Hilton I'd be suicidal.
She spend 4 days with herself.
I call it a cruel and unusual punishment.

Totally agree. I know I'd want to kill myself if I had to spend 4 days in a tiny cell with Paris Hilton!!!

I believe everyone will have mental challenge when they are behind bars. It is never easy, but doesn't mean that Paris can have a "special treatment"
But then again... if she overcomes her nightmare and start being influencial in the cell....
And clone more "paris hiltons" inside?
Now look who will end up having mental challenge.
Well, electronic anklet could stop her from sneaking out... or not...
But if she DOES learn her lesson and show improvements. Whether in the prison or grounded at home is not an issue.

I was just as gobsmacked when I heard this on the morning news! But it looks like she may be going back.....
I can just hear the murderers and rapists around the country banging on their bars.... oh I`m going a little crazy, please let me go under house arrest...
What a joke.... is that a reflection of the justice system? I know it is from where I come from!

Different Day, Same Ol' BS
I agree with you Kylie, I guess it doesn't really matter if she is at home or not. However, as far as her "medical condition", I have to say that everybody already knew that she wasn't wrapped too tight. On The Simple Life it was like she was there but her mind was in a far off place...I guess that wasn't an act.

I think they should introduce Blogging Licences.
And if you're caught blogging while under the influence of your own opinion too much, you should have your PC taken away from you, an electronic bracelet strapped over your mouth (which sends electric shocks through your whole body whenever you open it), and be sent to Blog jail.
And not be let out until you do have a nervous breakdown.
I really enjoy reading people's opinions of Paris. Most especially the subtext of how jealous they all are of her wealth and fame. And how they all think she should suffer. I wish I was more like them, and had never done anything unjust in my whole life, other than bore people shitless with my personal opinion, and take current affairs so seriously.
I also like Paris a lot now. I'd live with her. I'm a bit over women with brains. They use them for evil! At least Paris puts out!
I'd hate to live with a self-opinionated female blogger. I can see it now.
"Any chance of sex tonight?"
"No! I'm busy converting the world to my way of thinking! On my all-important Blog! Plus I didn't like it the first (and last time) we had it a few years ago!"
And women wonder why we masturbate?
Go Paris! Go girl!

During my internship while training to be a shrink... I worked at a psychiatric prison for women. So many of them would have the same story as Paris, yet they weren't released to their homes "to recover from a mental illness.....real or imagined" They were just medicated and sent back into the prison population to complete their time. What a travesty to the US criminal justice system. Wow having money or being able t give great blow jobs really means something in the US
