Did Owen Wilson Try To Commit Suicide?

Rushed to hospital

Owen Wilson was rushed to hospital on Sunday, after police officers responded to a medical assistance call at his home.

Wilson is currently recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and is said to be in good condition. Extra is reporting that Wilson had been depressed for several months and that he actually attempted suicide on the weekend. Wilson's publicist wouldn't make any comment in relation to the reports that Owen had slashed his wrists and taken an overdose of pills.

Wilson's representative issued a statement from him saying:

"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

If the reports are true, Owen won't be the first comedic actor to suffer from depression. Many comedians, from Jim Carrey to Sarah Silverman have suffered from depression throughout their careers.

Guess money really can't buy you happiness.......

Anyway, here's hoping that Owen recovers well and is back on the set of his current movie Tropic Thunder, another film that he is working with Ben Stiller on.

Kman and I had a chat about this last night - depression in comedians. I theorize its because we turn our pain into jokes, so people wont know how much it actually HURTS! Then, people laugh, cos its funny, even to the person who's depressed.....So, they get famous, and now even more people are laughing. Eventually, I guess, they dont find it so funny anymore.....My funniest jokes have been linked to pain - I can get all my mates in hysterics by talking about hallucinations! Its dead serious but it feels so much better to laugh about it!

WOW..so hard to believe from the outside he looks like he is the worlds happiest man...but he is an Actor I guess.

This story is totally disturbing on many levels, depression is so hard to understand especially in people who seem to have it all. Here's hoping he can recover and put it behind him.

If this is true then he joins a long list of comedians who use their gift to mask their grief. (Belushi, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor...)

I don't consider Owen a comedian as such, more an actor with good comic timing but...still...depression is not choosy...

OMG i Luvv Owen Wilson and he is such a good actor and a funny man it is so sad to c this happen 2 him. I hope he gets better
