Justin Hawkins Quits The Darkness

The lanky, gangly, often spandex clad singer of The Darkness, the man with the golden falsetto, Justin Hawkins has announced that his is quitting the band following his battle with alcohol and drugs.


Hawkins underwent rehab in London's Priory Clinic. In an interview with the Sun, Justin estimated that he had spent in excess of 150,000 POUNDS on cocaine in the last three years (that is A LOT of cocaine!!!!) and says "he couldn't even tell you" the extent of his alcoholism. Justing went on to say that he felt bad for his bandmates, but it was time for him to move on. While he doesn't blame the band for his drug problem, he admitted that there are some people who can be in bands and stay clean, but he was not one of them.

Hawkins former bandmates will carry on without him, with bassist Richie Edwards tipped to take over singing duties.

Justin will continue his rehab treatment, but says he is currently enjoying the quiet life with his girlfriend.

I for one will definitely miss the showmanship, excellent songwriting and his amazing falsetto!
