J-Lo Defends Scientology.....sort of

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez has defended Scientology in an interview over the weekend.

When asked about Tom and Katie's wedding in Italy and the negative response many people have to Scientology, J-Lo replied "I, myself, am Catholic. But it's just sad that people would look at it (Scientology) in that way."

Jennifer even revealed that her father has been a scientologist for over 20 years.

After the interview, Jennifer's rep made the comment ""Jennifer is not a Scientologist, nor is she becoming a Scientologist"

So, she's defending Scientologists and their right to follow the slightly odd religion. But hey, don't mistake her for being one herself!!!

She's just sticking up for her friends. Have you seen a picture of J.Lo when she was a little girl? Her face hasn't changed at all!

It's Battlefield Mirth!!

Still don't understand why Scientology passes the grade but Jedi goes unrecognised...
I mean hello?...L Ron Hubbard was a Sci-Fi writer...

Hope you're well KW.
(fully recovered from last week?)

Cibby - no I haven't seen any pics of a young J-Lo. I'm not a J-Lo fan at all.....but the woman is gorgeous.

Dusk - I'm with you. If a Sci-Fi writer can create his own religion, then why can't Jedi also be a religion? It probably makes more sense than Scientology?

Ah, I'm biased. I can't stand any religion.

I think J-Lo is being smart.
If she bagged Scientology they would come after her and run a smear campaign.
Particularly since her father is a Scientologist this add to their motivation. Instead she said what she was and said nothing bad about them. The question is open but lets the reader question why she is not a scientologist when her father is one.

Damo - you're right. It is very smart. I'm not used to Hollywood types being smart....it always takes me by surprise!

Bhumika;

What's xenu ?

Kylie;

I wouldn't mind becoming a Jedi - is that what were talking about ? Scientology doesn't really appeal to me - but religion does.

I love the concept of faith and having something you're really keen on. Strong beliefs - it gives you a way of life. It's useful, especially when you're surrounded by people who worship alcohol and the almighty dollar. It reminds you that there's more out there - especially within yourself, that matters.

But the kind of religions that we currently have on offer today ? Rubbish. Catholicism ( my religion ) is all over the place. I have no respect for it and I can't find anything solid in any of the others. I think fitness and sport can be a kind of religion. A body religion. I subscribe to that one.

Cheers, Kylie !!

If $cientologists dislike people noticing how whacky they are, maybe they should stop actively recruiting celebrities since everyone pays more attention to them (especially the whacky ones).

My own take is that any gods who actually cared left these religions scattered around as I.Q. tests- if you believe, you fail. Or maybe as a sort of cosmic reality show: "We gave these infants a box of blasting caps- let's watch what happens!"

Bhumika - I'll second Anthony's comment. I'm not sure what Xenu is?

Anthony -
To be honest, I have a real dislike of organised religion. I can't stand the hypocrisy inherant in so many of them. Religion is one of the few things that makes me really angry. So I keep right the hell (no pun intended) from it all.

That being said, I do believe in a certain kind of spirituality and think that there is more out there. If I had to pick a religion, I think Jedi would definitely be the one for me. The idea that everything in the universe is connected. I like that.

Fitness and sport can definitely be a religion. Anyone who doesn't believe it should get to the MCG on Grand Final Day

Francis - you make 2 good points there. Having Tom Cruise as your biggest spokesperson is always going to give you an air of oddness!

And i like the thought of it all being a cosmic reality show......
