Lindsay Lohan - Washed Up at 21??
August 6th 2007 02:25
Since her latest arrest, Lindsay Lohan has finally done something smart......lie low. However, it hasn't stopped the speculation about whether she'll be able to make a career comeback from the trainwreck that she's become.
Lindsay's latest movie, I Know Who Killed Me opened with a very disappointing $3.5M opening weekend, and the news just gets worse for her.
Entertainment Weekly have published an article on Lindsay's career prospects. EW talked to a number of high-ranking studio execs (anonymously) about Lindsay, and they had this to say about the troubled starlet:
The only good news came from Georgia Rule producer, James Robinson, who said he "would hire her again in a heartbeat". Not bad coming from the man who famously wrote Lindsay a letter admonishing her for her unprofessionalism during the shooting of that movie!
Hard to imagine that it was only 3 years ago that Lindsay had a platinum selling album and Mean Girls had opened with a $24M opening weekend. Guess we'll just have to wait and see if Lindsay can make a career comeback.

''It's always challenging for a young actor to mature into an adult star. It takes great planning, sophistication, and judgment. She hasn't shown any of those things.''
''Her career was over long before she had these troubles,'' says the studio head. ''The media treat her like she's Will Smith or Tom Cruise, like she's some big star, but she simply isn't.''
''Her troubles are what made her famous,'' says one studio exec. ''Her films don't open. She's a pain to work with. I think she's done.''
''Is she hireable again?'' asks the studio head. ''I can't imagine under what circumstances, but I never say never. Lots of people have second acts.''

So she's learnt to lie? My guess is she picked it up from the producers / directors / studio heads responsible for these quotes:
''Her career was over long before she had these troubles,'' says the studio head. ''The media treat her like she's Will Smith or Tom Cruise, like she's some big star, but she simply isn't.''
''Her troubles are what made her famous,'' says one studio exec. ''Her films don't open. She's a pain to work with. I think she's done.''

Were they referring to her or themselves?
The day these people need her? They'll retract everything they ever said about her, and hire her in the flash of a nipple.

Oh absolutely. If they find that her new-found notoriety translates into ticket sales, they won't care how unreliable she is, they'll all still want Lindsay.
Movie studio execs could give lessons on hypocrisy they're so good at it!

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the future. How many actors, singers, models etc has this worked well for? I'm sure it would be a very long list.

I'm with you.....it'll be a huge list. You always hear stories about massive diva tantrums on set. But if you bring in the bucks, studio's will put up with you

I've only seen her in one movie: A Prairie Home Companion, and she showed herself to be a decent actress and a decent singer... but I think she got in on that by accident...

Louie - I know!! I can't stand Lindsay, but I feel a bit sorry for her now!!!! And you know, I used to love her when she starred in Mean Girls. And then she was such a tool that hated her....now i feel sorry for her!!
Cibby - she's actually not a bad actress. But she's a moron. And carry on about the media attention all you want, she wouldn't have been a star in the first place without it. Even Lindsay has said that she wouldn't know what to do if she wasn't photographed everyday!

I feel like she will probably piss away her career that way Danny Bonaduce did. Take about child star gone awry.... Before you know it there will be a reality show about her demise! Kind of like Tom Sizemore's reality show.

Mis - I think you could be right. So few child stars really make it as adults. You have to be pretty smart to make it through..and she just isn't!
