John Brolin - Finally Gets the Recognition He Deserves

March 6th 2008 01:32
Josh Brolin
Finally everyone else is starting to see what I've always seen in Josh. He's REALLY hot. I mean, he's a really good actor.......
I've loved Josh Brolin for many years (in fact, I'm a big fan of the Brolin family. Period). From his first turn as Mikey's older brother, the fitness fanatic Brand Walsh in The Goonies to his sterling portrayal of "Wild Bill" Hickock in tv's The Young Riders (you really don't want to know how much I LOVED that show!). But finally, with his role as Llewelyn Moss in the Coen Brothers No Country For Old Men, Josh is starting to get the recognition for acting that I've known for 20 odd years that he deserved!

Entertainment Weekly featured the following interview with Mr Brolin back in December: CLICK HERE to read the article in its entirety.

Josh almost didn't get to be a part of No Country For Old Men, when he came off his motorbike at around 60kms an hour two weeks before shooting was due to start. Luckily he only shattered his collarbone and was ready to go when filming started. Rather than being concerned about his immenent death when he came off the bike, as Josh tells it the thought going through his head as he flew through the air was "'F---ing s---! I really wanted to work with the Coens!''' he says, grinning. ''I was in the air going, 'Man, that was a good part!'''

Slowly but surely, Josh has been gaining the attention of the foks who matter in Hollywood with solid performances in Grindhouse, American Gangster and In the Valley of Elah it's his turn as the anti-hero Llewelyn Moss that's really turned heads. Apparently after watching No Country For Old Men, Steven Speilberg called Brolin telling him that they needed to work together "now". Not too bad for a dude formerly known better for his arrest for suspicion of domestic abuse against his wife Diane Lane.

Brolin talks rather candidly about the arrest (how very un-Hollywood of him!) to EW, saying:

''It was the most misconstrued, awful thing that was the best lesson we ever had, because we both went, 'Oh, people are actually [watching],''' he says. ''If you call the cops, somebody has to go to jail. But what happened to being able to have a fight and screaming and doing your thing, especially since the kids weren't there'' — together, Brolin and Lane have three teens — ''and then have make-up sex, and wake up and laugh about it? But no, it's a totally different deal now. It was really, really embarrassing when it happened. And we're both like, 'That's a bummer,' and it'll always be out there as people saying [with a menacing whisper] 'Watch out for Josh!'''

It seems finally that Josh will be known for more than just being the step-son of Barbara Streisand. Josh's father, James Brolin is married to Streisand. And no, I wasn't lying. I really do love both father and son Brolin. If you've never seen it, you NEED to check out James Brolin's finest work, the tv show Pensacola - Wings of Gold. Brilliant my friends. Brilliant.

You won't be sorry!

In the meantime, I for one am pleased that I don't have to watch obscure (read, crap) movies just to get my fix of Mr Josh Brolin. Mmmmmm.........he's a tasty morsel. Oh and obviously a very good actor. First and foremost a good actor. Not just hot. No siree, I'm not that shallow!

Awesome.
I was so stoked to see get on top.

Legend.
He was the greatest in Goonies, and another 80's movie called Rad.
