The Hoff's Bizarre Burial Idea

September 13th 2006 02:20
I love David Hasselhoff. The Hoff. I really do. In spite of the fact that he is tragically retro, he can't act and he REALLY can't sing, I just like him. He's happy to have a laugh at himself and I like that. Of course, I take pride in my ability to LOVE bad television, bad music, bad movies and anything that someone has described as juvenile or crap. But, and I hate to admit it, some of The Hoff's general quirkiness and general oddness is starting to wear thin.

First, there is his latest musical release; the remake of the old Ted Mulry Gang classic, "Jump In My Car". The only comment I can make about this song is, it's BAD. It's very bad. And the music video is even worse. I couldn't even watch the whole thing it was so cringe-worthy. And I have a very strong constitution when it comes to watching bad tv. I can watch the entire Logies, Emmys or Academy Awards in a single sitting without once having to turn the channel. But I couldn't sit through The Hoffs music video.

Then, there's the news that came to light a couple of weeks ago suggesting that he tricked his former wife Pamela Bach into signing a prenup only 30 minutes before the wedding, by telling her it was a marriage licence. Not nice Dave, not nice.

Now, comes the news that The Hoff is so desperate to be remembered after he dies that he thinks he'd like to be buried in a glass coffin beneath his Hollywood star looking up at people. He's even thought of a few words for his tombstone. There was "Hoff and Running" as one suggestion. Or perhaps the more dignified "Good friend, good father. Had a blast"

Hmmmmm, I don't think it's just me. He is definitely a bit odd. But then again, aren't all Hollywood stars? At this point in time, I'm still on The Hoff's side. But I reserve the right to change my mind at any time.

Oh, by the way. If you ever get the chance, you should take a listen to some of The Hoff's musical work. It's fantastically AWFUL. One of his 'best of' albums - "The Very Best of David Hasselhoff" is a great listen. Every song is worse than the song before it. It's terrible. Trust me, you'll have a hard time taking Mark Holden's (Aust Idol judge) comments on Australian Idol seriously after you've witnessed the spectacularly bad music he helped The Hoff create.
