Hilary Duff and Joel Madden Break Up

Hilary Duff and Joel Madden have called it quits after 2 1/2 years together.

According to internet rumours, the reason for the break up was mainly their 8 yr age difference. Hilary is 19 and Joel is 27. Big age gap at that age you'd think.

Joel had written and co-produced 3 tracks on Hilary's greatest hits album, Most Wanted.

Firstly - Why the hell does a 19 year old release a Greatest Hit's album? I know you've been in the public eye since you were about 12 Hilary, but please. You should have to be old enough to legally drink before you're allowed to release a greatest hits album.

Secondly - you'd think that Joel helping with writing and producing some of her songs would have made her music more palatable. But I heard one of those songs on the radio....and it was equally as bad as her other stuff.

Sources told People magazine that Joel appeared at Chicago club Enclave last week and told people that he and Duff had split, describing him as being 'pretty upset'.

My question is, is Hilary going to take up partying with Paris and Britney? Or will Joel decide to swap a teen queen for a former teen queen and chase Britney himself?

Oh, now I'm just being mean. My condolences to them both (I'm sure it means a lot to them).

Nikki Webster released a Greatest Hits Album a while back, course the difference between her and Hilary is that Hilary is actually a hottie.

I know for certain she wont be heading towards Lindsay Lohan for support thats for sure,lol.

Actually I was thinking about Nikki Webster when I made that comment about the greatest hits album. Did you ever see that album.....it was a double cd! How? Nikki only had 1 hit, Strawberry Kisses.....why on earth was her greatest hits a double cd. So, so wrong.

Hilary at least does have a few hits to her name. She is an attractive girl too.....though at one stage she was way too skinny.

Joel Madden is a hottie as well.

19 yr old and a 30 yr old huh? Once you're over about 25 an age gap like that definitely doesn't matter. But I guess it's a bigger deal when you're talking 19yr olds.

That's a good point. Then the major age gap is 20 years with 'toy boys' and 'sugar daddys'. It definately depends on the person though. Myself, I've never been interested in younger girls and I don't think I'd go for any more than 2 years in excess of my own age.

Strange, huh? I know my mates are a bit more flexible, but yeah. Hmm... quite the conundrum...

You know, I've never really thought about it, but I've just realised that all of my boyfriends have been slightly older than myseld, but not more than a few years. Weird...I obviously have a type. Though given some of previous bad taste, I should find a different type!

Though, a lot of my friends are going for younger men....I can see the appeal for them : )

As to how much younger? Hmmm....my friends have gone anywhere from 2 to 8 yrs younger. Not sure if that's typical, or whether I just have friends with a liking for toyboys! lol.

Wow thats crazy. 8 years is an effort. Yeah I have a friend who goes for .. well.. anything with a pulse; but he prefers his women younger than himself. Apparently most guys do. I suppose it's a social thing.

Good to hear that women like toyboys though. Something to look forward to =) At my age, women tend to date older guys.

Lol, KylieW, you'd better get used to comments like the one above - anything negative about celebrities tends to attract a few like that. I remember on a forum I used to frequent someone started a thread entitled 'We Hate Avril Lavigne.' It would have died relatively quickly had we not had a flurry of anonymous posters come forward to defend the starlet - the thread ended up being one of (if not) the longest ever on the site.

Lol.... I think the split is better for the two, now they can find ppl their own age, and own trend.... Hilliary tried converting Joel for a while, made me sad. I ended up hating good charlotte after that and i had been a fan since their first album.....

Actually, joel is reportedly going out with nicole richie. The two have only a two year age difference, and nicole is way hotter than hilary. Hilary should probably go out with someone like william hung, who's looks, and singing ability match her better. Or maybe something closer her own species, like a horse or a donkey.

I liked both Hilary Duff and Joel Madden. I had no idea which one broke up with the other, but I had a feeling that Joel broke up with Hilary. I ended up hating Joel Madden after I heard that they broke up. I used to think that he was so cool and so hot (he still is hot) but I can't stand him anymore. I still like their music because there are four other people in that band, and it is not their fault that they broke up. I don't like the fact that he is going out with Nicole Richie. I don't think that they make a very good couple.

Why does it matter how old she is when she releases a greatest hits record? And when she released it she wasn't 19 she was 18. I hate Joel for dumping Hilary and then so quickly start dating Nicole.
