Heath Ledger Dies

January 22nd 2008 22:24
Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger was found dead of a suspected drug overdose
28 year old Australian actor, Heath Ledger has been found dead at his New York apartment. Heath is believed to have died of a drug overdose.

He was found at 3:30pm yesterday afternoon (NY time) by his housekeeper with pills strewn about him. So far it's unclear whether his overdose was accidental or intentional.

Heath has a two-year old daughter, Matilda, with his former wife Michelle Williams. He was due to play the Joker in the upcoming Batman film.

28 years old!! So bloody young to die.

This is a breaking story with very few details known at the moment. But you can be sure I'll be keeping you updated.

UPDATE

TMZ is reporting that police advised Heath's family that his death looks to have been accidental. Heath was ill with pneumonia before he died and it is now believed that he may have accidentally overdosed on sleeping pills.

Heath's family released the following statement to the Australian media:

We, Heath's family, confirm, the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda. He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. U.S. time.

We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their well wishes and kind thoughts at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him.

He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many. Please now respect our families need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately.

Ya know January always brings with it some celebrity shock.

As morbid as it sounds, Mrs Nice Guy and myself detest the inevitable news of which celebrity will leave this mortal coil each year at this time.

WIthout fail - there is always someone of note who (for whatever reason) shuffles off to a less tormented life.

Yes - despite the expectation - the nominee is always a shock.

The fallout will no doubt be interesting.

Tragic loss.

Very sad Kylie, to be found naked on the floor and dead at 28 may not have been a viable part of his life plan.

Last i heard they thought he may have had Pnemonia. He had just finished the filming of the Batman move "Black Knight" and was in the process of filiming another movie. His house keeper and massuse found him unconsious and by the time the paramedics showed up he was in full cardiac arrest.
I have been keeping a close eye on all the updates for this on the news websites.

But i must admit that i never would have picked Heath Ledger for it ever. Maybe some one that you woould expect like oh i dont know.......Britney Spears. Now that would not surprise me. But as for Heath Ledger well they got me on that one.

Keep up the good work

Sad news.
I thought perhaps another River Phonenix story, drug cocktail misadventure, but it seems as if it might have been something far more accidental ...
RIP Heath.

I heard in on the radio this morning and I am still in shock. Then when I saw them carrying out the body on the news... it was awful. So tragic, and his daughter will probably only really know him in his movies now.

I heard this morning, thought it was a mistake.

I'm pretty convinced that it was an accidental OD.

I was so shocked by this. I wasn't really a follower of him or his work, but he certainly wasn't a celebrity that I expected to die like this.

It is soo sad, to think any life taken so young. I can't help but to feel total heartbreak for little Matilda, she will never really know her father. He seemed very smitten with fatherhood. I don't care what the media says about this, i am going to believe this was an accident. God bless you Little Matilda
