Everyone Loves George Clooney

November 15th 2006 23:41
George Clooney has been named People Magazines Sexiest Man Alive in 2006. It's the second time that George has been given the honour, joining his good friend Brad Pitt, who also been named Sexiest Man twice.

When asked about being named Sexiest Man Alive again, George commented, "This one's going to be hard for Brad (Pitt) since he's been Sexiest Man Alive twice. He's enjoyed that mantle. I'd say 'Sexiest Man Alive' to him and he'd go, 'Two-time.' So that's been taken away. We used to call him Two Time. So Brad's going to be upset."

Clooney, at 45 years old, is a good looking man. But it's his self-deprecating humour that makes him really attractive if you ask me. Here's a snippet of some of my favourite George Clooney quotes.

1. “Run for office? No. I've slept with too many women, I've done too many drugs, and I've been to too many parties.”

2. “I'm a Method actor. I spent years training for the drinking and carousing I had to do in this film.”

3. “I'm certainly the last person to give advice on, well, anything.”

4. “People thought I was Tom and Nicole's bodyguard. They'd come up and go, "Is it okay if I go up and ask for an autograph? It was good. I'd charge 'em three bucks a person. Yeah, you gotta make some money off of that.”

Ahhhh......gotta love George! He's no Dave Grohl (who obviously is the sexiest man alive), but he's not a bad choice for the title of Sexiest Man Alive.

That's very metrosexual of you Tony. lol. You're right, a sense of humour definitely makes someone more attractive. I think Ross Noble is sexy (UK comedian) and he is one seriously odd looking dude. But damn, he's funny...and it makes him quite sexy.

Haha, thankyou. Thats the first time Ive ever been called metrosexual, lol.

I agree, Ross Noble is a weird looking dude, but he's married so obviously sense of humour works

Glad I could be the first!! haha, couldn't resist that one.

Yep, ugly people should definitely be funny.....or a rockstar. Chicks overlook ugliness for funny guys and rockstars! lol.

Very true...look at Mick Jagger, he's had reportedly hundreds of women and he aint the best looking guy in the world.

Im definitely not a rock star, my singing is left to the shower, lol

Lame and obvious choice, People.

They always are Adrienne.

Some of the recent winners include boring choices such as:
Tom Cruise (1990)
Patrick Swayze (1991)
Richard Gere (1999)
Harrison Ford (1998)
Ben Affleck (2002)

You gotta remember, their target audience is women aged 35

Harrison Ford and George Clooney don't seem like bad choices compared to Patrick Swayze, Richard Gere, Ben Affleck and Jude Law!!!

I don't know what's wrong with me - I just don't get the appeal of George Clooney. Sure, he's an alright looking guy, but he just doesn't do anything for me.

Hi KylieW,

Yes there is something about George, isn't there... but I was surprised to see him voted the sexiest man alive... nuh huh not to me, handsomest or most attractive maybe...but not the sexiest....

Hi guys. I agree. I think George is debonair, handsome, charming and witty. He really has the matinee idol thing going on for him. And I love the fact that he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously (a crime which most Hollywood actors are guilty of).

But the sexiest man alive? Yeah, I'm not so sure about that either.

I don't get his appeal and he comes across as smug. remember that oscar speech he gave? south park made a parody of it LOL

Yeah, I expected a better speech from him than that. He's pretty witty generally.

I must admit I did find him sexy in Out of Sight. But sexiest alive....hmmm.

I thought his speech was pretty good, though the pre-arranged orchestral music was all wrong.

I can't recall the music played. Maybe I'll look it up. Another excuse to avoid doing work today..lol.

Darn, his speech is no longer on youtube... I'm procrastinating from writing a better review of Brokeback Mountain lol.

ha, totally understand. I'm procrastinating from doing my work.....and my review of the music awards. I'm really going to do it......soon!

They were aiming for 'pleasant background music' but I think most of the winners found it annoying,as did the viewers... Reese was the only one who incorporated it into her speech. I remember someone describing it as akin to an annoying fly buzzing around.
Which music awards are you reviewing?
