Who is Your Favourite TV Presenter?
December 11th 2006 00:30
Last night I spent some me-time indulging myself. This included a face mask (my skin is so dry at the moment), painting my nails and toe-nails (grooming is very important you know) and watching a dvd that was given to me as a kris kringle present. A dvd that is destined to become my new favourite dvd.
The dvd was Top Gear - Thrashing, Crashing and Trashing, presented by my FAVOURITE tv presenter, Richard Hammond (pictured), or The Hampster as he's often referred to on the show. I have a deep and some may say, unnatural, love for Richard. He's short, he's gorgeous, he's funny and he's just.........yummy.
Top Gear is also one of my favourite life-style shows. I don't like renovating or gardening shows. I don't care about diet and workout shows, or shows on personal finance. Heck, I don't even like shows about cars. But I LOVE Top Gear. Why? Because it's a car show that is just as much for those who couldn't give a stuff about cars, as it is for car enthusiasts.
Who wouldn't love a show where, to demonstrate who strong a Toyota Hilux is, they run the hilux into a tree, leave it in the ocean, drive it through a shack, drop a caravan on top of it, set it on fire and then park it on top of a building that is being demolished. In case you're wondering, even after all that abuse, the Hilux was still driving! Or a show, where to prove which car most the best manoeuvrability between a Toyota Argo and a Volkswagen Fox play a game of car football (see the video below)!
Top Gear is not just ridiculous ways to test out cars. It's also the hosts. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond have wonderful rapport, even if it mostly the three of them hanging it on one another. These are men who live and breathe cars, and want you to love them too. And the fact is, by watching the shows you do end up, if not loving cars, at least having a healthy respect for them.
At the moment, Richard Hammond is recovering at home after a nasty accident in September in a dragster car that was attempting to travel at over 300 miles per hour (yes, miles) when it crashed. The Hampster suffered brain injury in the accident, however he is recovering well, thankfully!
For me, Top Gear is one of the best shows on tv. And Richard Hammond is far and away my favourite TV presenter. I'd turn on the tv just to watch Richard sitting on the couch reading the paper....but that's just me!
Well, I've told you mine, now tell me yours. Do you have a favourite TV presenter?
