Poor Old Britney
September 19th 2007 03:15
I know I've laughed at Britney Spears' misfortunes (mostly because they were of her own doing!). But even I'm starting to feel a little sorry for Britney.
Since Brit's failed comeback at the VMA's last week, things have gotten even worse for the woman who used to be America's Pop Princess. As you may be aware, Britney is in the middle of a custody battle with her ex-husband over their two children. Court proceedings are currently underway. Things got a little more stressful for Britney this week when her lawyer, Laura Wasser, quit. It's rumoured that Wasser walked as Britney is was a problem client who wouldn't listen to any advice she was given. Publicly however, Wasser told the media that Britney would be in excellent hands with her new attorney, and she didn't want anyone to perceive that Brit was being dumped by her legal team.
A few scant hours after Wasser walked, so too did Britney's new manager also jumped off the trainwreck express. Jeff Kwatinetz, who had been representing Britney for the last month, said in a statement:
TMZ sources are saying that Kwatinetz had similar problems with Britney as her lawyer. Girlfriend doesn't want to listen to people a whole lot smarter than her!
As if THAT wasn't enough bad news for one week. On Monday, Kevin Federline's legal team called their secret witness in their battle for custody of the couple's children, former bodyguard Tony Barretto. Barretto claimed that during the time he was employed by Britney he was concerned for her children's safety. Barretto filed a declaration alleging drug use and inappropriate nudity and behaviour by Britney after her rehab stint.
Britney's team waived their right to cross examine Barretto, who said that he was fired by Britney when he failed to hear her tell him to pick up her hat (which sounds exactly like Britney!!).
Fox News was reporting that their sources are saying that Britney will be ordered to termporarily give full custody to Kevin Federline! However, that seems to be purely speculation and hype on Fox News' part (gee who woulda thought Fox would do that!!).
TMZ however, are reporting that the judge in the custody case has found that there is a "habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol by (Britney)." The judge has ordered that Brit be randomly tested twice a week for controlled substances and alcohol. While there was no change to custody arrangements, both parents are to restrain "from making derogatory remarks about the other party and the other party's family or significant other." And neither Brit nor Kev are to consume alcohol or any non-prescription drugs during or for the 12 hours preceeding the time that they are responsible for the kids.
Poor old Britney. The sad part is that she doesn't even realise that she's mental! But seriously, when Kevin Federline is considered the "good" parent.....it's time to take a good hard look at yourself!!!

"It saddens us to confirm media reports that we have terminated our professional relationship with Britney Spears." Noting Kwatinetz repped Brit for a grand total of one month, he continued, "We believe Britney is enormously talented, and has made a terrific record, but current circumstances have prevented us from properly doing our job."

I think she has suffered immensely at the hands of fame. She was just too young to cope with all the things that came with being a pop idol - who can blame her really? Maybe the record industry should take some responsibility too?
