So much for a career comeback!

We all know that Britney Spears was the opening act for the Video Music Awards in Las Vegas which started about an hour or so ago.

And from the comments I've seen around, it looks as though her comeback was more Trainwreck than Triumpant!!

Some of the comments from folks over at Perez Hilton who saw it include:

she looked confused and kinda like a bad dance recital kid that wasnt sure of her dance steps….poor thing

She was awful and seems to have lost all confidence in herself. Was a good-enough song, but the lip sync was truly awful.

worst performance EVER! so disappointing

Alright firsly let’s discuss from the second the camera was on her she looked so nervous she was gonna puke. I am a huge britney fan everyone, but honestly that was dissapointing. She stopped lip syncing at one point and just walked around. I think she messed the moves up, and she was dancing real *slow like* i just dont no. I still have faith in her but tonight was just very disapointing.

TMZ have also panned Britney's performance saying that it looked as though she forgot the words to the song she was lip syncing at one point and that the audience weren't too enthusiastic!

So, was anyone surprised to hear that it didn't go well???????????

CC - no, not bad. Realistic I'd say. Everyone knew she was going to be bad. Britney just needs to realise her career is in serious trouble

i saw this on Fox and Friends...oh man...not good...bad is an understatement.

I will say this though...her body looks great!

It's her psyche that needs help.

poor Britney, I feel so sorry for her. .... she should just have a break and come back when she is ready for it...SOMEONE GET HER SOME GOOD PEOPLE who arent trying to suck her dry..........I have no time for blogging today but couldnt resist this one

Dusk - I saw the video and it was terrible. Weirdly I've been reading in papers that they think she looked flabby. I thought her bod looked fab.

Louie - I can't believe that her 'people' let her perform! She's ruined her career.

what happened to the news that she was going off somewhere in Europe and retire? Go away, for goodness' sake! No one cares. No one wants to see you!! She's a joke, probably up there with Michael Jackson.
