Who are the Best & Worst Australian Female Media Personalities
October 3rd 2006 23:24
Who are our Best and Worst Australian Female Media Personalities? It's tough to say. But I've put together a list of my nominations for Worst and Best personalities. I should say, that I've stayed away from Actresses.....otherwise the entire cast of Home & Away and Neighbours would be listed in the Worst list.
And the WORST Media Personalities are:
- Naomi Robson and Tracy Grimshaw.....but it's hard to tell if I hate them or their so-called Current Affairs shows,
- Georgie Parker - I cringe every time she talks without a script. Have you seen her on the ABC show The Glasshouse? Whatever drugs she takes before those shows. I want them.
- Gretel Killeen - while I applaud the way she fights back at the criticism of Big Brother, and I really like that she is intelligent and articulate, I just hate watching Gretel on tv. She's dressed like a 22 year old slapper most of the time, and is a touch too smug for my liking.
- Angela Bishop - No talent, no brains, trading on Mummy's name.
- Catriona Rowntree - I'm sorry guys, but I don't see the appeal of this woman. In a word, Bland.
- Jackie O - I know that the Kyle & Jackie radio show is popular. But I hate Jackie O. Hate her. Hate pretty much everything about her. Sorry.
- Any of the Celebrity Survivor celebrities - if you had to take a spot on this show, you probably weren't an actual celebrity.
On the other hand, the BEST Media Personalities are:
- Kate Langbroek - I don't mind admitting that I used to dislike Kate A LOT. All the years that I watched the Panel, I just couldn't stand her. However, I'm now a semi-regular Nova breakfast listener, and I've really warmed to her. I like her ability to laugh at herself and put herself out there.
- Amanda Keller - I've always loved Amanda. I think she's one of the most underrated media personalities. If Amanda is on a show, I'll watch it. She's engaging, funny, extremely intelligent........and she's over 40 and still on tv!
- Sandra Sully - She was a sensation as the sexy late news anchor. But now Channel 10 are trotting her out everwhere. Sandra is unexpectedly witty and has a real warmth to her that I just like.
- Corinne Grant - this is another woman that I've taken some time to warm to. I never really liked her on Rove (that could have had something to do with the fact that I don't really like the show?). But I've taken a liking to her since I'm only watching her on the Glasshouse. She holds her own against the boys, without ever compromising her 'girlyness'. That's not an easy thing to carry off!
- FiFi Box - She comes across as the biggest bimbo you've ever heard on the radio (Triple M's, The Shebang). But there's something likeable about that. I've also liked her on Thank God You're Here.
I know I've probably missed several worthy people off both of my lists. But this is my starting point for nominations. Does anyone have any ideas of other females they'd like to see in either list?

Meshel Laurie is getting a lot of TV time lately, which is good because I find her very funny. Myf Warhurst from Spicks and Specks is also pretty entertaining.
