Anna Nicole Dead

Anna Nicole Smith
Anna Nicole Smith
Anna Nicole Smith died last night at the age of 39. The former playmate collapsed and died at the Seminole Hard Rock Café Hotel and Casino in Sth Florida. The cause of death is unknown, and an autopsy will be held later in the week.

Anna Nicole began her career as a topless dancer, before becoming Playboy’s Playmate of the Year in 1993. With her Marilyn Monroe-esque looks she was heralded as the next big thing. She later became the face of Guess.

In 1994, at the age of 27, she married 89 year old oil-tycoon J. Howard Marshall who died in 1995. Howard’s death sparked a long and bitter fued between Anna Nicole and her former stepson E. Pierce Marshall over Howard’s millions. Anna Nicole was originally awarded $474 million, but that ruling was later overturned. The battle for Howard’s millions was still continuing when Anna Nicole died. Last year, the US Supreme Court ruled that Anna Nicole deserved another day in court. Though E. Pierce Marshall died last year, he family had vowed to continue fighting Anna Nicole.

In 2002, Anna Nicole debuted in her own tv show, The Anna Nicole Show. The show detailed the bizarre personal life of Anna Nicole. In 2004 she infamously appeared either drunk and/or on drugs at the American Music Awards where she slurred her way through an introduction for one of the musical acts. In 2005, at the MTV Australia Music Video Awards she pulled down her dress to flash her breasts on tv and leapt on Daniel Johns when Silver Chair won the award that she was presenting.

Anna Nicole had 2 children. Daniel, 20, from her first marriage in 1985 to Bill Smith died in his mothers hospital room last September only days after she’d given birth to his half-sister Dannielynn. Daniel’s death was ruled as accidental, being the result of the combination of methodone and antidepressants in his system.

The paternity of Dannielynn is still in question. Anna Nicole insisted that Howard K. Stern was the father, while photographer Larry Birkhead claimed that he was the father. Late last year, a court ruled that Anna Nicole had to submit Dannielynn to paternity testing to prove which man was the father.

Though Anna Nicole’s life was crazy and surreal, many, including me, had a soft spot for her. She wasn’t terribly smart, or terribly sane. She had problems with her weight, alcohol, drugs, money and men. Though in a time when Hollywood stars only ever put forward their ‘public’ persona’s, Anna Nicole’s ‘this is me’ approach won many over.

Oh my God.
Don't know what to say...with everything else happening in the world, her life seems so trivial but...this is sad.
What a tragic life...and death.
...and her baby...Oh God...

Yeah, just read that news half and hour ago on SMH.
Often its the celebrities you wouldn't have picked ... remember when River Phoenix keeled over outside the Viper Room?
I remember those early images of her as the Guess model. She looked so radiant and sexy.
She had too many demons.
I guess they finally devoured her.
Poor girl.

Bryn, I remember when she was the Guess girl too. She was absolutely stunning. But the demon's got her eventually. I mean I shouldn't be surprised, she never seemed like a candidate for a long life....but crikey.

Dusk - her poor daughter. I mean mother and son dying within a couple of months of each other. Gotta feel for her

Not to be morbib.....well maybe....I think the baby is better off without the influence of one dillusional, drug addicted mother who let her vices control her and screwed her way to the middle.

Money hungry, self involved and nihlistic, she lacked any self control what so ever.... these are not good traits to pass on, just look at what happened to her son..

Just one mans opinion, but someone dying doesn't change the way they lived their lives.

JD - I'm not terribly surprised that she died young, and I don't think she made for a good role model or particularly good mother.

But I liked Anna Nicole. Even though she was a nutcase!

Cindi Lauper....very nice choice of nutcase! I was sad when she grew up and became conservative.

I really liked Anna Nicole, but it's not a huge surprise that she od'd (that's my bet for what killed her). She was a walking timebomb.

Yeah, I reckon she OD'd too ... suicide even?
What did happen to Cyndi Lauper???

Drugs, either suicide or drugs.

like her son.

The death certificate would read something like 'over dose of sleeping pills'. I'll laugh at that, so true.

Suicide could be plausible....it's not like anyone would argue that she was in a good state of mind!

My bet is pills and booze. Though the methadone that her son had in system supposedly could have been Anna Nicole's. So who knows what combo she took.

Cindy Lauper came to Australia a couple of years ago and did a few Melbourne shows at the Performing Arts Centre. I think she got married, had kids and didn't have the energy to rebel anymore! : )

I feel sorry for the baby and hope that somehow now she gets a better life than she may have had with a mother like that.

Actually Cyndi was already around 30 or so when she had the HUGE She's So Unusual album back in the 80s ... she'd been kicking around the new wave live circuit for many years in different bands, etc ...

Melissa - I feel sorry for the baby too.

Bryn - wow, was she really already that age? I thought she was only early 20's....but then, thinking about it, she did look a little older. Though it was hard to tell with that hair

The coroner is likely already working on a polite wording of "Not enough blood in her drugstream." Strippers across the country wore their garters down at the knee today...

When I heard on the news tonight that the celebrity Anne Nicole had died, I thought: which celebrity? It's hard to feel that this person made much of an impact, celebrity-wise, in this world. A go-getter, maybe, but celebrity? Nah.
Let's hope she's got something of real to face her Maker with.

This is sad, and a rather tragic end to a life that had become quite bizarre. I hope her daughter gets to lead a normal life, but I fear that won't happen.

Hi Kylie

I must admit that I never took a lot of notice of her while she was alive and, honestly, I kind of agree with JohnDoe in that she isn't the kind of influence that anyone would want their daughters looking up to, her own included.

I do feel for the babe, though, and hope that she is allowed to live her life out of the shadow of her mother.

It's not really a surprise, is it. It's almost like she's emulating her idol, Marilyn Monroe, in death as well as life.

A question to consider: would one want Anna Nicole's life?

Sounds like she packed a lot into it. And there's the trade up of a lot of ups for a lot of downs.

oh she packed a lot Adrian, except she packed a lot into them, a heck of a lot.

This is really so tragic! And yet on the other hand, all the deaths which occured prior to Anne Nicole's death all seemed suspicious. I wonder who is taking care of her little girl? Whoever it is i hope they are thinking of the child's best interest.

She was involved in about four different court cases, maybe she faked her death...

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments!

Her life was very very bizarre. I do hope that whoever gets custody of her daughter raises her well. Maybe she'll have a chance to be slightly more normal!
